The amount of the moon that you can see from the earth depends how much of it is lite up from the sun this amount changes the phases of the moon depends of the position relation to the sun in the earth as the moon makes its way around the earth we see the bright parts surface at diffrent angles theses are called phases of the moon it takes 29 days to orbit the earth.
